The 2012 Cookie Season is now closed. Sage came very close to being able to set a new national record, and honestly, she could not be happier than if she had made it. She is thrilled by the huge donations amount and we are both humbled by the support.
My name is Sage and I am 11 years old. This is my fifth year selling Girl Scout cookies. My favorite part is getting Girl Scout cookies donated for US Troops overseas – it’s called Girl Scout’s Gift of Caring. In the last 4 years I got more than 3,000 boxes of cookies donated for US Troops in Iraq and Afghanistan! Last year alone was 1505 boxes – which was just crazy, wonderful, fantastic, amazing, IT ROCKED!
This is my last year selling cookies, so even though most of our troops are out of Iraq, we have lots in Afghanistan still, I really want to try to get as many as possible. I might be able to set a record. The most Gift of Caring, that we know of in the United States by a single Girl Scout in one year is 3967 boxes. I have a sponsor who will donate the final 1000 if we can get to 3000. It can’t hurt to try any way! Here is where you can see my progress so far. We update it daily.
Why is this my last year? Not because I am quitting Girl Scouts. I LOVE Girl Scouts, but because next year I want to work on helping younger girls like the Brownie scouts learn to sell cookies instead. So this is my last year doing cookies for the troops. I am not sad because I’ll teach other girls how to do it. But this is the last year I will ask people to buy or donate for me.
I am planning to ask every single person I can if you can do at least 5 boxes, which is $20.00. They are $4.00 a box. So $20 means 5 soldiers get a box, $40 means 10 soldiers and $100 is for 25 soliders! But even 1 box means another soldier gets their own box, so any donation is great!!! You can send a check to my troop leader and I will mail you the tax receipt and a thank you note.
DONATIONS NO LONGER ACCEPTED. THANK YOU!
I found this quote by Martin Luther King in my school agenda that I thought would be perfect for when I ask people to donate Girl Scout Cookies this year:
How soon ‘not now’ becomes ‘never’.
Right now is a great time to donate cookies for our amazing US Troops! Thank you so much for reading this and hopefully, for donating cookies to soldiers!!!!!!!!!!
Love, Sage
PS: I am not selling cookies online, we are only doing Gift of Caring donations. If you would like some yummy Girl Scout cookies for yourself, you can go to the cookie locator! http://cookielocator.littlebrownie.com/
